day trip on Vesuvius: how to reach the Mount Vesuvius

Vesuvius is the background of the amazing wiew of Sorrento, in winter with snow-capped peak, the summer green to the broom bushes in bloom.

If you want to see Vesuvius definitely you have to go for a walk on the summit.

To reach the Vesuvius from Sorrento, take the train from Sorrento Circumvesuviana to the station of Pompei-Villa dei Misteri.

From there you get the bus stop to reach the summit of Vesuvius (about 200 meters from the station, opposite the tourist office).

The area around Vesuvius was declared National Reserve since 1995. The summit of Vesuvius is open to visitors and there is a network of trails around the mountain that you can go.

The access point to the path reaches the crater is approximately 200 meters from the summit. The trail climbs a spiral from the road to the crater and has traveled only on foot.

The bus stop is located at a height of about 1000 meters. From here you have to buy a ticket to start the visit. The ticket costs about EUR 6. The visits take place accompanied by a volcanologist. The time is about 15-20 minutes. The visits are always possible, except in bad weather conditions.
