If you dream to leaving everything behind to go aboard a sailboat, you can console yourself with the sixth edition of the Saracen towers race which will be held from the 2nd to the 12nd of June 2011 in the area of sea included from Marina di Stabia to Scario and Sapri.
Then the race then will flank to the winding coastline of the Sorrento peninsula and after passing Capri, fluttering along the Amalfi Coast, the Gulf of Salerno to arrive in the Gulf of Policastro, and finally reach the port of Sapri and to Scario.
During the race you can admire the beautiful Saracen towers that had the job of protect the coast from pirate attacks. Their construction started already at the time of the Romans, but the flourishing dates back to the sixteenth century. The towers will be on the route of the race are Rovigliano tower, the tower of Punta la Guardia and the Tower of Punta Campanella, overlooking on a scene of incomparable beauty. Legend says that in this place Ulysses met the Sirens, who unable to seduce the hero, threw into the sea transforming in to the three islands of Li Galli.
During the race there will be held local products tastings, cooking competitions, tours and excursions.
