The best way to visit the town of Sorrento is go walking unhurriedly among the major shopping streets and the historic center looking for typical shops, stopping to taste a glass of limoncello of Sorrento and sitting to rest on a bench overlooking the sea of Sorrento.

Piazza Tasso is the heart of the city of Sorrento. It was built in the nineteenth century on the valley that divided the city.

Looking out behind you can still see what remains of the town center: the old mills operated by water coming down from the mountains and the old wash houses where the village women went to the laundry.

The main street of Sorrento, Corso Italia (sounds like “Italy Avenue”), a street very close to Via San Cesareo that from Meta di Sorrento along the entire  peninsula up to the end of the town of Sorrento.

The garden of the public villa is one of the most scenic of Sorrento. Starting from Piazza Tasso stop on the left. From there you reach Piazza Sant'Antonino, the square dedicated to the patron saint of the city where the city hall of Sorrento. Descending from the square you get the Garden very close to the Basilica and Cloister of San Francesco.

Walking through Sorrento is possible to notice how frequently the churches and places of worship. The people of Sorrento, seaside town for its history and culture, are due to the Catholic tradition and particularly devoted to the Madonna del Lauro, protector of sailors.

Sorrento is a town rich in history and tradition. Many testimonies of its long history in museums today are enclosed in Sorrento. The two most important museums are the Museum of Sorrento and the Museo Correale di Terranova-workshop of wooden tarsia.

The first of municipalities that you can see at the entrance of the Sorrento peninsula, Vico Equense  welcomes visitors showing them the blue sea, one of the most beautiful and cleanest in Italy- up to 1440 meters of green Monte Faito, and that seems that wants to say "Welcome in Sorrento!"
